The Uniquely Abled Academy (UAA) at College of the Canyons will graduate a cohort of students on May 19th, 2023. The students who completed the Fast Track 12-week program are qualified for entry-level positions as CNC operators, machinist apprentices, and machinist trainees. Classic Wire Cut, a local medical device manufacturer, is one of ten local companies that will be interviewing UAA program graduates for careers in manufacturing. Last April, UAA students has the opportunity to tour the Valencia-based company’s facilities. Mike Bastine, UAA’s director, says, “the overall responses from employers about our graduates has been very positive. I would say the best endorsement we get regarding the quality of our trainees is when we receive an unsolicited call back from an HR manager who asks, “Hey, when are you going to have another graduation?”
