Uniquely Abled Academy

Our Academy gives individuals with high functioning autism a chance to earn a living and learn the skills to be a CNC machinist.

College of the Canyons’ Uniquely Abled Academy offers a career pathway to job seekers with high-functioning autism. Our intensive 12 week UAA training program for Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machinists, includes 420 hours of in-class instruction, 60 hours of job focus readiness, soft skills, site visits, and open laboratory participation – all under the instruction of professional, experienced CNC trainers. Upon graduating, individuals can program, setup, and operate CNC machines, use quality control instruments, apply shop mathematics and read blueprints. Graduates qualify for a host of entry-level jobs, including machinist trainee, machinist apprentice, CNC operator, CNC programmer and more.
